Everyone wants more dairy, if only there was more milk

There have been significant increases in opening milk prices for the new season, writes Peter Wilson, Dairy Australia's industry analyst - Australia. The 2006/07 season finished with Australian milk production 5% below last year - much better than the widespread expectations of a 10% decline halfway through the season. Export sales volumes fell by a similar amount due to reduced product availability. Domestic per capita consumption of drinking milk increased for the fourth consecutive year.
