Asia's food retailing revolution

This is the first of several articles about key issues analysed in the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade's Subsistence to Supermarket II: Agrifood Globalisation and Asia Series. This article focuses on the changes under way in Asia's food retailing sector. It is drawn from Volume II: Changing Agrifood Distribution in Asia, which was released in August. Asia's agrifood marketplace is undergoing a transformation. Traditional systems of agrifood distribution are being overtaken by a network of modern food retail and foodservice outlets and giant shopping malls across Asia, each creating their own supply chains and distribution systems.
