摘要

Zinc oxide (ZnO) nanoparticles have been synthesized using co-precipitation method and characterized using XRD (X-ray diffraction), TEM (transmission electron microscope), SEM (scanning electron microscope), EDX (energy-dispersive X-ray analysis) and BET (Brunauer-Emmett-Teller) analysis. The results of XRD, TEM and BET of the crystallite size particle of ZnO-NPs (nanoparticles) were in the range of 5-30 nm. The specific surface area was found to be about 265 m(2)/g and is attributed to the smaller size particle. The phytochemical analysis of the date extracts shows the presence of alkaloids, tannins, saponins, flavonoids, steroids and reducing sugars which are signal molecules with antimicrobial activity. The extracts were screened for antimicrobial activity against Salmonella typhi, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli and Enterobacter aerogenes by agar well-diffusion method at various concentrations of the different extracts. Their activities were compared with those of the ZnO-NPs, date extracts showing more antimicrobial activity, and both are more sensitive to Gram-negative bacteria.
