Tasmanian dairy is going to the dogs ... and the cats, and the horses

What does a Tasmanian cheesemaker have to do with pet food and the Australian Defence Science and Technology Organisation? To find the answer, Irina Fainberg travelled to Westhaven Dairy in north-eastern Tasmania. Westhaven Dairy has been a Launcestoninstitution for more than 12 years, producing goat's and cow's milk cheeses and yogurts. In 2002, using a New Industries Development Grant from the Federal Government, the dairy's owners and managers, Lorraine and Geoff Mance, began developing YoPet, adrinkable, lactose-free probiotic yogurt for pets.
