While Australia's milk production was down last season, the average farmgate milk price rose 5% to 4.50 dollar /kg milk solids. But that may not continue, writes Dairy Australia's Industry Analyst - Australia, Peter Wilson. Weakening export returns have seen a slight decrease in opening prices for the 2006/07 season of 0-4% around Australia. Also, with a number of regions on a drought footing (at the time of writing), the outlook for 2006/07 production is for limited to no growth.
