Tax burden eases for China’s coal plants

China reduced taxes for coal-fred power and heating plants last year to help ease losses caused by surging coal prices. China reduced, returned and deferred a total of 27.1bn yuan ($4.25bn) of taxes for around 4,800 power generators and heat suppliers in 2021, the National Taxation Administration said on 26 January.
