摘要

Systems Manager, Body Active Consultancy Underground mining provides one of the most unique and physically challenging environments for the Australian industrial workforce as demonstrated by the ongoing consistently high musculoskeletal sprain and strain injury rates. Since as far back as 1997, manual task (formerly manual handling) injuries have remained fixed at between 41 per cent and 42 per cent of all serious injury claims. In underground mining, however, this figure continues at an elevated 44 per cent.
