EXPLORING SET STANDARDS FOR DRILLING TOOLS

In diamond drilling, there has been a well-established set of standards for downhole tooling for many years with most of the significant developments of new systems coming from either Boart Longyear or Craelius. To date, no really dominant player/s have emerged to set any sort of standards for RC drilling so we have an assortment of connections as well as a range of pipe and inner tube diameters used for this drilling method. In Australia, the Remet and Metzke thread connections seem to dominate and there are other specialised connections such as those developed by Drillstar. Canada has Matrix amongst others; and there are also RC threads from the UK and Europe.
