Net zero innovation isn't just about new technology

As frequently reported by The Engineer, reaching the UK target of net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 will require unprecedented levels of engineering innovation. Indeed, the critical role that will be played by engineers here is something that we'll be exploring in detail over the coming weeks and months through our recently launched net zero campaign. Unsurprisingly for a technology news publication, when we consider the innovations that will help us meet these ambitions our focus tends to be on new technologies: the electric propulsion systems, energy storage technologies, and power generation systems that will usher out the age of the fossil fuel.
