Gehl and Mustang reclaimed the title of largest skid steer with the V400 and 4000V models, respectively. Although the units are identical, the brands are marketed separately through different dealer organizations. The large models extend the two brands' vertical-lift offering, which includes the Gehl models V270 and V330, and Mustang models. The machines have a rated operating capacity of 4,000 pounds and vertical lift height of 144 inches, which allows the skid steers to load high trailers and trucks. Vertical lift follows a true vertical line, the company says. Product manager Sean Bifani says the machines meet a market demand for high-capacity skid steers. "[The loaders] enter the high-end of the skid loader market, where product options are minimal," he says. Breakout force for the machines is 9,150 pounds, and the extra-long wheelbase measures 54.6 inches.
