Japan mulls funding nuclear safety to add capacity

Japan is considering funding reinforcement work at its existing nuclear reactors to meet its net zero emissions goal by 2050.A nuclear subcommittee of the trade and industry ministry has proposed including investment in safety measures for reactors in the country’s planned long-term decarbonised power source auction,aimed at spurring spending on clean power sources by securing funding in advance.
