US Gulf mid-and high-sulphur petroleum coke prices rose again this week on a shortage of prompt supply, even as buy-ers are beginning to look more seriously at coal given that market’s recent declines. There were a few Latin American buyers in the market, with prices for high-sulphur coke climbing into the mid-to-high $130s/t on an fob basis. Many refners and traders are sold out for frst-quarter loadings, which is propping up ofer prices even as coal becomes increasingly competitive.
