US independent ConocoPhillips has posted first-quarter earnings of $5.8 billion, six times higher than the net $992 million it made in the corresponding quarter of 2021, and 75% up on the $2.6 billion it made in the fourth quarter of 2021. Profits were boosted by significantly higher commodity prices, with the company's realised price averaging $76.99 per barrel of oil equivalent - 70% higher than the $45.65 per boe the company averaged in the first quarter of 2021.
