The present invention provides an active system that consumes ambient air temperature and relative humidity data from onboard vehicle sensors or over the air data collected thru the onboard vehicle telematics module to calculate and predict the forming of frost on the vehicle glass. If the Frost Shield software algorithm predicts the likelihood of a frosting event, the Frost Shield software algorithm will enable the vehicle onboard HVAC system to maintain a glass surface temperature above the calculated frosting point temperature so that frost cannot form on the vehicle glass surfaces. The Frost Shield algorithm also consumes relevant vehicle data information to ensure vehicle battery minimum state of charge is not exceeded, customer customization settings and vehicle state is valid as shown in the attached flow chart (1).
