As a result of strong sales of apparel machinery to newly emerging Asian economies and the weak Japanese currency, Japanese apparel machinery manufacturers are enjoying favorable business performance. JUKI Corporation increased its sales of apparel machinery during the fiscal first half ending in June 2014 by 10.3% year-on-year to 37,151 million yen, with profits from this segment amounting to 3,699 million yen. According to the company, the increasing shift of apparel production from China to newly emerging economies in Asia has contributed to strong sales to such economies, and sales to non-apparel sectors such as car seats and sport shoes also increased.
