摘要

This paper presents the Theory of Justice, by the philosopher John Rawls. It explains how geography could use Rawls' theory to rationally analyse socio_spatial inequalities. The core idea is based on "the optimization of inequalities", or the application of the "maxim in" principle to inequalities. This principle _ maximizing benefit for those who have the minimum _ permits a rational assessment of social situations, in their specific dimensions of time and space, with regards to the concept of justice. In this way, Rawls' philosophy can participate in regional organization analysis, and influence planning policies, conceptualized as the implementation of the compensation principle.
