Major oil and gas discoveries in Namibia’s part of the Orange basin over the past 18 months have raised expectations of the country repeating the success of emerging oil producers such as Guyana. But the location and geophysical properties of the offshore prospects could make their development complex and costly, while an oil revenue bonanza could create socio-economic problems if managed poorly.
