Software for Speech Signal Research in Patients with Malignant Diseases of the Throat

Malignant diseases of the throat are socially important because disability of patients with throat cancer reduces their working potential. There are now 25,000 patients with throat cancer in Russia. Annually 2500 patients with throat cancer require speech restoration. Although throat cancer belongs to the class of tumors of external localization, 75% patients are subjected to therapy of local tumors T_3-4N_0M_0. Such therapy includes not only surgical and radiation components, but also antitumor chemotherapy. Although surgery is the leading component of this therapy, it results in damage to speech and respiration functions.
