World's MMF Industries Undergo Drastic Environmental Changes

Since the first ACFIF Conference 15 years ago, the business environment surrounding the world's chemical fiber (man-made fiber, MMF hereafter) industries has undergone drastic changes; i.e., the Asian currency crisis in the latter half of the 1990s; the turmoil in world politics in the 21st century triggered by terrorism and war; China's and Chinese Taipei's accession to the World Trade Organization; and the elimination of quotas on textiles and apparel beginning in January 2005. Moreover; even greater changes took place particularly after 2008 when the previous conference was held.
