Chandigarh-based Winsome Knitwear, a unit of the Winsome Group, is increasing its line of Shima Seiki computerized flat knitting machines to 200 by May or June this year. This factory started in 2003 as a pilot project with 22 machines (twenty 12-gauge machines and two 14-gauge machines). At the beginning, Winsome Knitwear did not want to go into circular knitting, and after testing and trying flat knitting machines from various makers, the company found Shima Seiki machines to be the best and took a decision to install more machines.
