Textile Exports Rise 15.74%

Exports of textile manufactures during the first eight months of 2003-04 (July 2003 to February 2004) surged 15.74% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.Textile prodilct exports stood at USUS5,142.18 million,accounting for 65.28% of overall exports (USUSS7,877.53 million).Within textile goods,exports of semi-processed goods (cotton yarn and cotton fabrics) amounted to USUS1,801.30 million.With a growth of 25.38 % over the year before,these accounted for 35.03% of total textile product exports.Taken separately,the country exported 353,792 tons of cotton yarn (0.23% more than in the comparable period of 2002-03),while the proceeds in dollars were up 22.57% to USUS748.04 million.
