A Biotechnical System for Diagnosis and Treatment of Binocular Vision Impairments

Binocular vision impairments are early indicators of disorders in the peripheral segment of the visual analyzer and the central nervous system. An urgent problem of modern biomedical engineering is to develop a system for confident diagnosis and efficacious correction of such disorders.In binocular vision information is transmitted to the brain alternately from the left and right eyes. The information is processed in the brain, producing visual images. This effect in medicine is detected using systems for separation of visual fields. The principle of action of the systems for separation of visual fields is based on presentation of objects with different properties to the left and right eyes (e.g., objects of different shape or color). The process of detection of the different objects is called binocular competition .
