摘要

Mesophyll chloroplasts were isolated from leaves of a Na+-requiring NAD-malic enzyme type, dicotyledonous C4plant,Amaranthus tricolorL. The chloroplasts converted pyruvate to phosphoenolpyruvate under illumination, and the conversion was stimulated by Na+. This observation may explain the requirement for Na+of some C4plants.
