The shortage of paraxylene (PX)has considerably boosted prices of PTA (purified terephthalic acid)by US100/ton.As one of their measures to counter climbing raw material prices,horizontally-integrated-type synthetic fiber producers such as Far Eastern and Nan Ya attempted to shift rising costs to product prices by a price rise of 3 yuan/kg.Because of disapproval shown by the downstream sector industry,however,synthetic fiber producers are going to widen the range of production curtailment,starting in July.In so doing,these producers plan to move up the annual regular inspection time to lower the rate of operation to less than 50%.
