Advantages of cermet X-ray tubes over tubes with glass bulbs were discussed in [1-5]. Characteristics of a new cermet X-ray tube for mammography (Fig. 1) are considered in this work. The results of experimental testing of the tube are described.Weight and dimensions. The housing of the small-size cermet tube is grounded. Therefore, no gas or oil insulation is required. This reduces weight and dimensions of the X-ray source.
