BEEKEEPING AND THE LIVESTOCK DISEASE CONTROL ACT 1994 (VICTORIA)

The Livestock Disease Control Act 1994 and Livestock Disease Control Regulations 1995 provide the legal basis for monitoring and control of diseases of animals and bees in Victoria. This Agriculture Note explains the sections of the Act that apply tobeekeeping. Anyone who keeps one or more hives of bees is required to register with the Department of Primary Industries (DPI) as a beekeeper.
