The Japan Chemical Fibers Association reported that the nation's production of man-made fibers in 2014 decreased by 0.4% from the previous year to 975,576 tons, of which synthetic fibers declined by 0.8% to 805,696 tons. Cellulosic fiber production rose by 1.4% to 169,880 tons. The production of nylon filament grew by 2.8%, thanks to a recovery of exports of high-density fabrics and an increase in exports for airbag applications.
