If there is one message professional fitter Sandy Reid stresses to up-and-coming beef show people, it's that he started off just like them. In his youth, the 4-H member left more bald spots and gouges on his Angus heifer's coat than hair. But handlingthe buzzing clippers filled the then-12-year-old with a boundless sense of accomplishment that empowered Reid to pick up the whirring blades again and again, fine tuning his grooming and showing skills over the past three decades. Recently, the Moorefield, Ontario cattleman and co-owner of RK Animal Supplies shared his positive "you can do it yourself mantra with 25 keen youngsters during Prince Edward Island's first official 4-H beef calf camp.
