New Year's resolutions

With the approach of the new year, Canadians often like to roll out our New Year's resolutions in hopes of making some positive changes in our lives. The P.E.I. Cattlemen's Association (PEICA) has some resolutions it would like to share. Plant sustainability: The recent announcement of the 12 million dollar for the Atlantic Beef Products plant can be considered a closed chapter for the plant in its efforts to try to get funding from the three Maritime provinces and the federal government. This, in itself, is an accomplishment of huge proportions. It has been on rare occasions when we have witnessed the agreement of such diverse groups to sit down and discuss such an undertaking, but evenrarerwhen an agreement is signed, sealed, and delivered. The PEICA' s first resolution is to work closely with the plant to ensure every means to make it sustainable and profitable are being explored, and to ensure that through this process, our producers will receive a fair return for their cattle.
