Hiram Carver went a long way in his career, practicing law in the 1950s before becoming aprovincial court judge in 1963, and later serving on the Nova Scotia Supreme Court. But he has remained rooted in the hinterland of Lunenburg County, never forgetting the lessons about forest stewardship he learned from his father.In 2014, the 25 th anniversary of Nova Scotia's Woodland Owner of the Year Award,Hiram and his son, Ernest, who has worked closely with him in managing the family' s woodlot, were named western region winners and also overall provincial winners.
