While not as big as original projections called for, profits are being realized at Port Hawkesbury Paper a year after its reopening. Ron Stern, whose Pacific West Commercial Corp. bought the mill in eastern Nova Scotia last year, revealed the news during an open house held at the site in Point Tupper on August 26, when the company offered some members of the community and the media the rare opportunity to tour the facility. It was Stern's first visit since production resumed in October 2012. "It surpassed what we expected from a standpoint of the talent that's in the mill, it seriously has," he said. "The numbers compared to what we projected are less than what we had hoped for, but we're still happy because of what we see in the future. You get the right people, you'll make it succeed.
