摘要

Abstract Kiwi fruit is a highly remunerative temperate crop grown in Himachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Tamil Nādu and Uttarakhand states of India. The root-knot nematodes were found parasitizing Kiwi orchards at Shama village, Bageshwar district in the Uttarakhand state of India. Infected Kiwi plants showed a general decline, poor growth and reduced fruit size and numbers. In addition, infected plant roots showed small to mid-sized-galls, and the severely infested roots were distorted by multiple galls of varying sizes. The morphological and molecular methods were used to identify the nematode species as Meloidogyne hapla. This is the first report of root-knot nematode M. hapla on Kiwi fruits from the Uttarakhand state of India.
