Hoping for an open border: Producers want markets, not handouts

Summer is just around the comer. On the sandy soils east of Charlottetown, planting is in full swing and forages are coming out of hibernation In the west, where the soils are a little heavier, the land is resisting even the best 4 x 4. With a new season upon us there seems to be renewed optimism, albeit in hopes of a border announcement in the near future. The signs look promising and recent talks between the U.S. and Japan show hope for a resolution to their differences sometime after the Japaneseelection in July.
