Federal initiatives include delayed marketing, increased slaughter capacity. The Canadian Cattlemen's Association (CCA) welcomed the Sept. 10 announcement from Andy Mitchell, minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, of further measures in supportof the beef cattle industry. The measures are consistent with the CCA's Strategic Plan forthe Beef Cattle Industry, which was unanimously approved by the board of directors at the CCA's semi-annual meeting in Calgary on Aug. 20.
