Asian bee Campaign Update - 23rd May 2011 Commonwealth Government Allocates 2 million dollar to Support Containment

As a result of the Senate Inquiry into the Science underpinning the inability to eradicate the Asian bee the Asian bee containment group were asked to consider a new "containment" plan over a series of teleconferences even though the official positionof the CCEPP has not changed at this point. The Qld Government in consultation with industry have been asked to develop the plan for the other states to consider. An updated version of the plan was put forward on the 19th of May for stakeholders to consider. A key factor in getting to this point has been industry's offer to co-ordinate volunteer beekeepers to assist with specific public engagement and reporting on the ground in Cairns.
