Conformational leg abnormalities in the pre and post natal development are a common problem in young foals. This article outlines a number of broad management options for non-surgical management of such foals which in many cases obviates the necessity for later surgery. These options are discussed under the following headings: less or more exercise, splinting or casting, foot support devices, relaxation drug therapy, weaning and dietary control.
