Pills are generated on clothing made of woven or knitted fabrics by friction when it is worn. The phenomenon of generating pills is referred to as pilling, and is likely to occur on sweaters and other garments knitted with yarns that have a small number of twists. The methods for assessing and testing pilling are described in JIS L 1076. There are ten types of test methods (twelve conditions), and here, the most popular A method (using an ICI tester) is introduced.
