Asahi Kasei Transforming to Holding Company in October 2003

On October 9, Asahi Kasei Corporation announced its three-year medium-term management plan "Ishin-05" starting from fiscal 2003 and the transformation to a holding company in October 2003. Following the basic concept of the "Ishin 2000", "Ishin-05" aims to accelerate the transformation to a high-earnings type business portfolio and create business capable of offering new value to the customer, while at the same time targets at a selectively diversified enterprise of high-earning businesses by incorporating reforms of corporate management configuration such as a shift to a holding company and division-based corporations.
