Cape John Pasture Field Day: Getting the most out of grass

A cool salt mist greeted visitors to the Cape John Community Pasture on the morning of June 10. Beef producers, researchers, scientists, industry representatives, and government officials all showed up in their windbreakers and ball caps for the CapeJohn Community Pasture Field Day. TheN.S. Department of Agriculture, the N.S. Cattle Producers, Agrapoint, the N.S. Agricultural College, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, and the Cape John Pasture Cooperative hosted the event. The day included two fieldsessions, a workshop, a producers' panel, and a delicious lunch of grass-fed beef on a bun (see AB Summer's "By the side" for areview of the flavorful lunch). It also provided an opportunity for producers to meet one another, exchange ideas, and gain familiarity with current grass-management projects.
