MEP urges fewer EU ETS allowances for aviation

The European Parliament’s lead member on aviation’s inclu-sion in the EU emissions trading scheme (ETS) has called for a reduction in free allowances allocated to the aviation sector. Member of European Parliament (MEP) Peter Liese on 27 November presented a report to parliament on the European Commission’s proposal that the EU should adopt an airspace-based approach to regulating airline emissions under the EU ETS (AGE, April, p11).
