Analysis of the Mexican hog cycle (1987-2002).

An analysis of monthly production and price data for Mexican swine and pork over the period 1987-2002 was used to evaluate the Mexican hog cycle. Component analysis revealed a cyclical fluctuation in price with an average periodicity of 51 months. It is concluded that these conditions make this sector very unstable.
