Europe's new airline, PLAY, conducted its first flight on June 24, with Airbus A321neo TF-AEW (msn 8008) departing Keflavik, Iceland, at 1130hrs. It arrived at London/Stansted at 1454hrs, its distinctive all-over red aircraft and uniforms making a standout sight. The Icelandic low-cost carrier began flights to Tenerife on June 29 and will add Alicante, Barcelona, Berlin, Copenhagen, and Paris in July, with two more A321neos due to be delivered as operations ramp up. It intends to operate six aircraft within its first few months and ten within three years. PLAY's management includes veterans from WOW Air, Iceland Express and Icelandair. The airline is emphasising "core values of on-time performance, simplicity, happiness, low prices, and safety."
