Bryan BergeronThe focus of this article is the Drake 2B (Figure 1). This classic AM, SSB, and CW receiver is designed primarily for the amateur high-frequency bands from 3 MHz to 30 MHz. There are also provisions for receiving shortwave broadcasts within the same frequency range with the use of additional crystals. The Drake 2B is like the Zenith broadcast receivers covered earlier in this series; it illustrates the technological status of domestic tube-type receivers in the early '60s.
