The HSE has confirmed that it took enforcement action against Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust following the death, in April 2020, of a radiographer at Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria. FGH employee Simon Guest died after contracting COVID-19 early on in the pandemic. An HSE investigation found that the trust had breached health and safety regulations by failing to ensure that staff had received adequate face-fit testing to ensure that respiratory protective equipment (RPE) was effective in preventing exposure to SARS-CoV-2.
