Women Machinists at NFR Mechanical Workshop, Dibrugarh

摘要

Women staffs are operating highly sophisticated, computerized, numerically controlled, Wheel turning lathe, vertical turret Lathe and Axle Journal and Burnishing Lathe machines at N.F. Railway Mechanical Workshop, Dibrugarh. Operations of these machines are generally performed by male staff all over the Indian Railways. Administration of Dibrugarh workshop recognized the hidden ability of female workers and their keenness in handling the machines in workshop. Subsequently, the women workers have been imparted for training to learn the operation of the machines. As a result, till date Dibrugarh workshop has around 8 female machinists.
