Germany’s Eon agrees to buy Canadian LNG

German utility Eon has agreed to buy about 5mn t/yr of LNG for 20 years from the proposed Goldboro LNG export venture in eastern Canada for delivery to western Europe, project developer Pieridae Energy says. The LNG project is expected to start commercial operations in the first quarter of 2020 (AGL, November, p10). The cost of LNG supply will be based on market prices of natural gas in western Europe, Pieridae says. Further financial details were not disclosed.
