Japan’s LNG imports fall

Japan’s LNG imports declined by 3.1pc to 6.4mn t in June from 6.7mn t in the same month last year. Imports from most countries fell in June, well outstripping increases in delivery from Australia and Indonesia. Japan cut purchases from the Middle East in June. Imports from Qatar fell by 6.4pc to 1.2mn t from the same month last year. The decline more than offset a 21.1pc rise in supplies from Oman to 382,757t. Imports from the UAE dropped by 0.6pc to 416,430t. Imports from nearby countries also fell, with Russia delivering only 563,840t, down by 27.6pc, and Malaysian supply falling by 6.8pc to 1.2mn t. Imports from Brunei were lower by 14.6pc at 389,746t.
