Woodside LNG output falls in second quarter

Australian independent Woodside Petroleum’s output from its two LNG projects fell in the three months to 30 June 2013 owing to planned maintenance at the plants during the quarter. Pluto produced an average of 8,471 t/d of LNG (11.7mn m~3/d of dry gas equivalent) in April-June and sold 8,779 t/d with 13 cargoes delivered. This was 21.5pc down on output of 10,801 t/d in January-March, while sales fell by 12pc from 9,961 t/d in January-March when 15 cargoes were delivered. The A$15bn ($13.8bn) Pluto LNG project started shipments in April-June last year. Production in the latest quarter was 43pc higher than 5,930 t/d a year earlier, when eight cargoes were delivered. The latest output figures indicate Pluto operated at an annualised rate of 3.4mn t or about 79pc of its design capacity. Woodside owns 90pc of Pluto LNG with the remaining 10pc shared equally between offtakers Japanese utilities Kansai Electric Power and Tokyo Gas.
