PNG LNG project ‘90pc complete’

The two-train 6.9mn t/yr PNG LNG project in Papua New Guinea (PNG) is 90pc complete and remains on track to sell its first LNG in 2014, PNG-focused upstream group Oil Search says. The first train of the $19bn project is being prepared for commissioning gas while construction continues at the second train, according to Oil Search, which owns about 30pc of the venture. Australian independent Santos, which owns 13.5pc of PNG LNG, said late last month that the plant would be commissioned in the next few months.
