Russia’s Yamal LNG takes step towards FID

Russian independent gas producer Novatek has given an update on pro- gress at Yamal LNG, ahead of a final investment decision (FID). The project has sold 70pc of the vol- umes that it will produce, chief financial officer Mark Gyetvay says, which is how much it needs to sell to secure project financing, with export contracts used to guarantee loans. Novatek plans to bor- row 70pc of Yamal LNG’s financing, with shareholders contributing the remainder.
